Tobe was so excited when they stumbled upon the Old Man’s station - he wanted a shot of Leatherface going wild with the chainsaw. Gunnar Hansen got into it, doing this crazy dance and swinging the chainsaw around like a pro. They ended up using that same dance for the ending of the movie, but they had to cut out his parking lot performance.
No, Leatherface didn’t dance. He was too busy terrorizing people with his chainsaw!
