Jimmy’s trying to keep a lid on things, but it’s clear he still wants Chuck’s approval. He knows Chuck will figure out what’s going on if he sees the newspaper, so he hides it. Even though Jimmy insists that “the worm has turned”, his words don’t quite convince - it’s obvious he doesn’t want Chuck to know how far he’s fallen.
